just to give you a little background about myself, i was a born-in, i'm in my late 20's now, i faded away a few years ago after researching the history of the wtbs on the internet.
my fade was aided by moving away with my job(i definately feel lucky about that).
eventually, i had discussions with a couple of my closer jw friends about why i no longer believed in the wtbs.
Wasblind,
No boubts here, just small disagreements here and there. In this case, just a personal resolution I made a long time ago to serve God in my abundant imperfection because he so deserves it (Rev. 4:11) not because there's an imminent "end".
Actually, anyone that tries to please God because the end is near only gives Satan the reason when he told God about the man Job that mankind only served God because of personal survival interests.
DY
what do you make of this.
are they anticipating or experiencing trouble in the field or just promoting scare tactics again?.
We get challenged all the time by people while in service; we must prepare for it and accept that it's not goin away.
As Jesus Christ said, he was persecuted and so will his followers.

Ever since the 1975/mid-80s/mid 90s Armagedon fiascos I've been serving God to the best of my very imperfect ability as if the end is coming today, but preparing myself secularly and otherwise as if I'll live over 100 years old and it'll never arrive in my life time.
Most JWs I know believe they'll see the end, but unfortunately we're all already dying one by one of old age and illness, and no end in sight.
Having said that, I've decided that the correct path to take in my case, and as it says in the Bible, is to worship and serve God because he so deserves it for his benevolence and his creation, not waiting for any so called "end".

check out this link: http://w3.newsmax.com/a/oct10/jehovah/.
i received this link from a brother "in good standing", though i could not decide if the article (oct 2010), was a good thing (to boost wt ego's) or a negative apostate type of information.. i was more suprised at the fact the it was in a rightwing political magazine.
but what do i know.. any thoughts?.
Old news. JWs publish lots of stuff yearly and have millions of free volunteers distributing these publications daily throughout the world. Of course we have been a publishing powerhouse for many years now, and many more to come!
Definitely a JW ego booster!

Haven't seen it. What's in it?!

so, there we all are in the break room in my place of work, and the topic turns to the holiday shopping madness.
this co-worker starts to say how expensive this holiday season has been for him and that he's still not done, and too bad when the day comes the family members will find fault or something else wrong with his gifts, and to make things worst, that the wife also was purchasing gifts with his credit card so he feared the january statement.. so, i jokingly told him that one way he can remedy that is by telling his family that he's been studying the bible and that he won't be celebrating christmas this year as he's studying to become a jw.
they all laughed loudly and the guy, second by others in the room, told me that i just didn't know how good i had it being a jw this time of the year.
People that are willing to reason ultimately accept that holidays are largely based on lies or unacceptable behavior for a person considered a Christian. However, they prefer to continue with the tradition as usual.
The Bible does mention of people that will follow men's traditions rather than God's will; nothing surprising about it.
It's widely known, truth be told, that we can be just as giving people as any others, but we express meaning in our giving not just because an annual date is set have we become enslaved to it. Our school graduation, baby/wedding shower, wedding, wedding anniversaries, children's parties, etc., are ocassions filled with joy, good food, gifts, all without the materialism and excess that are characteristics of today's holiday celebrations.
It's wonderful in my case that many of my co-workers have checked our official website and found out the real reason of our stance on holidays and other JW behaviors. Their respect is much appreciated, indeed.

Poopsiecakes, SixOfNine,
Having a real good Sunday, aren't we?!
Relax already!!!

all the elders in my circuit are driving across the state for a big elders meeting.
and the ministerial servants have to do it on sunday.
evidentally they were all told to study certain parts of their new book before going.. .
So many here said to be "done" with the Organization, yet continue to dig into how things are going on the inside. It's crazy!
Either be "in" and apply Biblical teachings to the best of your ability, for a better present life and future, or be "out" and start living and minding your own business and leave others be what they choose.
